Thomas S.6 Whitney (Joseph5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Joseph5 and Rebecca (Stinchfield) Whitney, was born 10 Sep 1799, Phillips, ME, and died 5 Aug 1865, Burns Township, Henry Co., IL.

He married, 14 Jun 1827, Maineville, Warren Co., OH, Lydia Tufts. She was born 18 Apr 1806, Phillips, ME, and died 24 Feb 1882, Burns Township, Henry Co., IL.

i. Henry T.7 Whitney, b. ca. 1828, OH; d. 1897; m. Nancy Ann Phillips, b. ca. 1827, NY. He was a wagonmaker.

iii. Albert Whitney, b. 13 Jul 1832, d. 7 Aug 1833, bur. Maineville Cemetery, Hamilton Township, Warren County, OH.
iv. Rebecca Jane Whitney, b. 16 Jun 1834, Mansfield, Richland Co., OH; d. 29 May 1913, Cambridge, Henry Co., IL; m. 25 Feb 1854, Milan, Ripley Co., IN, Rufus Darwin King; teacher and farmer.
v. Melissa D. Whitney, b. ca. 1836, OH; m. Samuel Lynn Edmonds, farmer.
vi. Jaruel B. Whitney, b. ca. 1842, IN; m. Caroline C. Henderson; he was a farmer.
vii. Marion Thomas Whitney, b. 22 Feb 1846, Milan, Ripley Co., IN; d. 21 May 1927, Chitwood, Lincoln Co., OR. In 1850, he was listed as Thomas Marion Whitney; m. Laura Augusta Parker; he was a carpenter.
