Whitford⁶ Whitney (Asa⁵, Matthias⁴, Cornelius³, Joshua², John¹), son of Asa⁵ and Alithea (-----) Whitney, was born 6 May 1796, Killingly, CT, and died after 1870.

He married firstly, 10 Nov 1817, Patience Slafter. She died before 1823.

He married secondly, 16 Nov 1823, Foster, RI, Mehitabel Hopkins. She was born about 1801, Foster, RI, and died after 1860, and apparently before 1870.
