Charles¹ Widney, son of James and Mary (Wilson) Whitney, was born 1 Nov 1763, Ireland, and died 13 Mar 1844, Franklin Co., PA.

He married, Jul 1793, PA, Mary Dolly Henderson, daughter of Samuel and Mary (-----) Henderson. She was born 7 Jun 1775, Cumberland Co., PA, and died 28 Jan 1858, Concord, PA.

He is listed as Charles "Wooney", farmer, age 55, on an 1828 tax list of Fannett Township, Franklin Co., PA.^[1] Either the age is wrong, or he was born in 1773, not 1763.

Franklin County, PA, Will Book C, p 629. Letters of Administration were issued to the estate of Robert Elder to William Gamble and John Blair, 21 Jan 1823. Sureties: John Alexander and Charles Widney.^[2]

"113. An act allowing compensation to Charles Widney, James Widney, James Adams and John Harman, for their services as commissioners for completing certain public roads."^[3]

In 1837, he was one of the pioneers of Concord, DeKalb Co., IN.^[4]
