Aaron5 Whitney (Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Nathaniel4 and Hannah (Day) Whitney, was born 7 Jun 1741, Biddeford, ME,[1] and died 19 Jun 1815, Alfred, ME.

Marriage banns were published 12 Sep 1765, Gorham, ME, for him and Jane McLellan "of Falmouth" "daughter of Brice [McLellan]". He married, 19 Sep 1765, Jane McLellan, daughter of Brice McLellan or of Alexander and Anna McLellan of Falmouth (Cape Elizabeth), ME. She was born circa 1745, probably Falmouth, ME, and died 2 Apr 1833, Alfred, ME. She was also known as Jenny McLellan.

The children were born in Gorham, and Aaron's brother, Moses, also lived there in this period. Marriage may have taken place in Falmouth, for which there are no Whitney Extracts from the VR's as yet.

i. Hannah6 Whitney; b. 20 Jul 1766, Gorham, ME; d. 4 Jun 1835, Alfred, ME.
ii. Anna Whitney; b. 28 Oct 1767 , Gorham, ME; d. 30 Nov 1837, Alfred, ME. She was also known as Annah Whitney.
iii. Samuel Whitney; b. 22 May 1769, Gorham, ME; d. 11 Aug 1773, Gorham, ME.
iv. Jenny Whitney; b. 10 May 1771, Gorham, ME; m. 16 Jun 1785, Gorham, ME David Johnson. She was also known as Jenney Whitney. She seemingly married at age 14!
v. Sarah Whitney; b. 8 Jun 1773, Gorham, ME; d. 4 Mar 1817, Alfred, ME; m. 16 Jul 1797, Gorham, ME, Sheba Dyer.
vi. Susanna Whitney; b. 16 Feb 1775, Gorham, ME; m. (int. 18 Feb 1804, Gorham, ME) 1 Mar 1804, Gorham, ME, James Merrill "of Buxton".
vii. Tabitha Whitney; b. 16 May 1777, Gorham, ME; d. 25 Oct 1828, Alfred, ME.
viii. Miriam Whitney; b. 16 May 1777, Gorham, ME; d. 5 Apr 1850, Alfred, ME.
ix. Betty Whitney; b. 7 Jan or 7 May 1780, Gorham, ME; d. 15 Nov 1845, Alfred, ME. She was also known as Bettey or Betsey Whitney.
x. Silas Whitney; b. ca. 1784.

  • 1790: not found. May have been living with his brother Moses.
  • 1800: not found. May have been living with his brother Moses.
  • 1810: not found.
  • 1820, Portland, Cumberland Co., ME: Jane Whitney, 1 female 26-44. Her age seems to be understated.
  • 1830: not found.
  • 1830, Trenton, Hancock Co., ME: Silas Whitney, 1 male 40-49, 1 male 70-79, and 1 female 50-59. This seems to be his son Silas, aged 46, with wife and a possible father-in-law.
