Phinehas Whitney, parentage unknown, was born 1 Dec 1776, as recorded in Phillips, ME, but actual location may be elsewhere. He died before 1850.

He married, 18 Aug 1803, Sidney, ME, Mary "Polly" Crommitt. She was born about 1780, ME, and died after 1850.

They resided Phillips, ME.

iv. Nancy B. Whitney, b. 6 Apr 1806, Phillips, ME (also listed as Nancy W. Whitney); possibly the one "Miss" who m. (Int. 4 and 18 Sep 1835, Carmel, ME) 18 Sep 1835, Carmel, ME, "Mr." John Cook "both of Carmel".[1]
v. Elizabeth H. Whitney, b. 29 May 1807, Phillips, ME; possibly the Elizabeth Whitney who m. 5 Jul 1829, Phillips, ME, Frederick H. Eveleth.
vi. Sumner Whitney, b. 5 Mar 1809, Phillips, ME (also listed as Sommer Whitney); m. Diana Broadstreet.
vii. James F. Whitney, b. 5 Jul 1812, Phillips, ME. No further record found.
viii. Fanny S. Whitney, b. 10 Apr 1815, Phillips, ME. No further record found.
