Solomon5 Whitney (Solomon4, David3, Joshua2, John1), born Canaan, Connecticut, 15 Nov 1766; married at Poultney, Vermont, Polly Marshall, born 17 Aug 1767; died 23 Feb 1837, at Poultney.

He was born at Canaan, Connecticut, and soon after reaching his majority moved to Poultney, Vermont. There he married, purchased land and conducted a large farm until his death in 1854. He died Sept. 1854; resided Poultney, Vermont.

i. John6 Whitney, born 1 Sep 1791; married Sally Hollenbeck.
ii. Sally Whitney, born 23 Feb 1787; married in Poultney, Oliver Lawrence Angevine. He was born 1779; died Poultney, Vermont, 26 Sep 1870, ae. 91, was a farmer.
Ch.: Solomon; Mary; Harriett, married James Howe, resided Martinsburg, Missouri; Hiel; Charity, married Nathaniel Mitchell, resided Fairhaven, Vermont; James; Mary; Ann; Parcellus, resided Omro, Wisconsin; John; Harvey; Sarah, married Henry Farmer, resided Fairhaven.
iii. Solomon Whitney, born 4 Jun 1793; married Nancy Hurlbut.
iv. Lucy Whitney, born 11 Nov 1786; married Harvey Finel; resided Poultney, Vermont.
v. Polly Whitney, born 22 May 1796; married in Poultney, Caleb Butler. Soon after their marriage they moved to Waukegan, Illinois, where they resided.
vi. Chester Whitney, born 22 May 1798; married Ruth Crane. He died 6 Aug 1845, in Poultney, Vermont.
vii. Lydia Whitney, born Apr, 8, 1800; married Harvey Malary.
viii. Ruth Whitney, born Sep. 22, 1804; married in Poultney, Vermont, A. B. Church; resRochester, New York, and Hamburg, South Carolina.
ix. Ichabod Whitney, born 7 May 1789; died unmarried 1807.
x. Eliza Whitney, born 4 Mar 1807.
