William Washington8 Whitney (Sewell7, Jonathan6, (prob.) Jonathan5, Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Sewell7 and Lucy (Craig) Whitney, was born about 1849, Kenduskeag or Kirkland, ME, and died 11 Dec 1920, prob. Oak Harbor, Island Co., WA.
He is found in census records as Washington W. Whitney, and his grave marker reads Washington Whitney. He was a farmer, being found in census records from 1880 through 1920 in Island Co., WA. He apparently never married, and died s.p. Throughout these records he is found cohabiting with Martha Jane Annis as brother and sister. No record has yet been found that he had a sister Martha Jane Whitney. Both Washington Whitney and Martha Jane Annis are buried in Maple Leaf Cemetery in Oak Harbor, WA.

On 4 June 1879, Edward H. Annis m. Mercy Ellen (Houston) Townsend. She had previously m. Charles H. Townsend, whom she divorced in Oct 1878 in Penobscot Co., ME.
