1852. He married (2nd), in 1854, Mahaia Dike who was born in Sterling, Vt., in 1824, dau. of Elisha and Betsey (Hendrick) Dike.1 They lived in Fletcher, East Fairfield, Fairfield, and Charleston, Vt., in the last of which she died, 25 Ap. 1871. He was living at North Wolcott, Vt., in 1874.

VII. Elvira Whitney, b. in Essex, Vt., 5 Feb. 1815; married, 22 Feb. 1848, in Ludlow, Vt., John William Wallace, a carpenter and car-builder, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1818, son of Samuel and Ellen (White) Wallace.2 They dwelt in Ludlow, two years; in Rutland, Vt., three years; and in 1854, moved to Amboy, Ill., where they were living in 1873. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Polly Whitney, b. in Colchester, Vt., 30 Jan. 1817; married, 3 July 1832, at Fairfield, Vt., Daniel Bently Mitchell, a cooper, who was born in Fairfield, 26 Jan. 1896, son of Truman and Catharine (Flood) Mitchell, of Fairfield and St. Alban's, Vt. They lived at Fairfield, Waybridge, and St. Alban's; and returned to Fairfield, where he died, 30 A. 1866, and was buried. She was living at East Fairfield, in 1873.

X. Julia Whitney, b. in Colchester, Vt., 16 Sept. 1820; married, 20 Oct. 1847, at Bakersfield, Vt., by Rev. Daniel Warren, Congregational, to Larkin Horton Wilcox,3 a teamster and general jobber, born at Mount Holly, Vt., 3 Aug. 1819, son of Jacob and Sally (Horton) Wilcox, of Mount Holly. They have lived at Ludlow, West Rutland, Castleton, North Bennington, East Middlebury, and Rutland, in Vermont; at Buskirk's Bridge (Cambridge), Pittstown, and Peekskill, in New York; at Bergen Hill and Bergen, in New Jersey; and finally moved to Centre Rutland, Vt., where they were living in 1874, considering themselves settled for life. They have but one child, Morillo Larkin Wilcox, born in Middlebury, Vt., 22 Aug. 1855, who they adopted when he was one year and three months old.

2 Samuel White, a mason, was born in Bedfordshire, England, in 1794; his wife, Ellen White, a native of Glasgow, Scotland, died in 1822.
