He served in the war in the 6th New Hampshire Infantry, and was wounded by a gun shot in his hip at the battle of Bull Run, Virginia, 29 Aug 1862; he was discharged 31 Oct following; was representative in the legislature 1868-69 and served several years as supervisor of schools.
