He married, 10 Oct 1888, Boston, MA, Mary Josephine (Peters) Holden,^[1] daughter of Ambrose D. and Sarah Jane (Pattison) Peters. She was born 17 Mar 1854, Boston, MA. She had married firstly, 24 Dec 1872, John A. Haldin/Holden.

Children of Sidney H.⁸ and Mary J. (Peters)(Holden) Whitney, if any, unknown. In 1900, she had had one child, not then living.
