Dr. Grove Dutton⁸ Whitney (Alvin L.⁷, James⁶, Cornelius⁵, Matthias⁴, Cornelius³, Joshua², John¹), son of Alvin L.⁷ and Betsey (Cook) Whitney; born Pavilion, New York, 8 May 1842; married at Rochester, Michigan, Dec. 23, 1867, Rebecca B. Whitney, born 11 Oct 1843.

He is a doctor; studied medicine at University of Michigan 1865-70. Served as a private in County. A, 140th Regt. New York. S. Vols.; was in many engagements and twice wounded; discharged 3 Jul 1865; resided Pavilion, New York.

Children of Grove Dutton⁸ and Rebecca B. (Whitney) Whitney:

i.	Mary Eliza9 Whitney, born 25 Jan 1870; married 10 May 1893, W. J. Malette; resided Le Roy, New York.
ii.	George Cephas Whitney, born 26 Jan 1873; resided Pavilion, New York.
iii.	Effie Aroline Whitney, born 4 Jan 1875; died 18 Aug 1878.
iv.	Lutine Day Whitney, born 21 Sep 1877.
v.	Bessie Aroline Whitney, born 29 Sep 1879.
