Nathaniel Chapman⁸ Whitney (John⁷, Phinehas⁶ Whitney, Samuel⁵, William⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of John⁷ and Sarah (Chapman) Whitney, was born 15 May 1834, Waterford, Washington County, Ohio, and died about 1910, Lincoln, Grundy County, Missouri.

He married 27 Feb 1859, Washington County, Ohio, Catherine A. Shires, parentage unknown. She was born 1837, Pennsylvania, and died 1920.
