James⁷ Whitney (Charles⁶, Jonathan⁵, James⁴, Joseph³, Jonathan², John¹), son of Charles⁶ and Abigail (Smith) Whitney, was born 4 Jan 1819, Brookfield, VT, and died after 1880.

He married firstly, before 1841, Jerusha Wadenburg. She was born about 1822, VT, and died 27 Aug 1875, Bristol, VT, aged 54 years.^[1] She is buried with two sons in Greenwood Cemetery, Bristol, VT.

He married secondly, 15 Mar 1884, Nashua, NH, Catharine F. Smith.^[2]

He resided Bristol, VT.

iii.	Charles B. Whitney, b. ca. 9 Jun 1846, Bristol, VT; d. 5 Dec 1887, Adams, MA, aged 41 years 5 months 26 days, of intestinal obstruction;[4] bur. White River Junction, VT; m. 4 Jul 1872, VT, Harriet A. Chadwick.
iv.	James Whitney, b. ca. Nov 1849, VT; d. 3 Sep 1851, Bristol, VT, aged 21 months.[5]
