Amos7 Whitney (Benjamin6, Benjamin5, Benjamin4, Joseph3, John2, John1), son of Benjamin6 and Sarah (White) Whitney, was born 31 Dec 1765, Worcester, MA,[1] and died before 1841.
He married firstly, 20 Nov 1793, Worcester, MA,[2] Polly Kingsbury, eldest daughter of Moses Kingsbury. She was born 1772, and died 23 Apr 1795.
Marriage intentions were published 15 Aug 1800, Shrewsbury, MA, for him "of Worcester" and Betty Parker.[3] He married secondly, 1 Oct 1800, Worcester, MA, Betsey Parker, "of Shrewsbury",[4] daughter of Amos and Polly Curwen (Stone) Parker. She was born 23 or 28 Mar 1769, Shrewsbury, MA, and died 12 Aug 1841, Worcester, MA, aged 72 years, of apoplexy.[5]
Amos Whitney recd., of the town for nursing and boarding Jesse Wesson's wife and child $4.78. At the March town, meeting in 1795 and 1806 he was elected a surveyor of the highways and collector of highway taxes. In 1802 he was elected a member of the school committee. In 1806 he was on the venire for the Supreme Court; 1809 candidate for the legislature; 1811 elected assessor. He died before his wife; resided Worcester, MA.
