Family:Whitney, Lewis R. (1861-1905)

Lewis R.⁸ Whitney (Albert⁷, Rufus⁶, Tarball⁵, Solomon⁴, David³, Joshua², John¹.), son of Albert⁷ and Sarah A. (Treat) Whitney,^[1] was born 9 Oct 1861, Almond, NY,^[2] and died 30 Nov 1905, Bingham, MI.^[3]

He married 24 Jan 1896, Greendale, MI, Daisy G. Husted^[4], daughter of Albert and Hannah Elizabeth (Birch) Husted. She was born 1879 in New Haven, Gratiot Co., MI, and died 1965 in Owosso, Shiawassee, Michigan.

They lived in Greendale, Midland Co., Michigan.

Lewis and Daisy had a short marriage. When their son (Albert Bert Cunningham) was born in 1897 he was listed on the Return of Births for Greendale, Midland, MI, by last name only. Daisy filed for divorce^[5] on 17 November 1899 because of extreme cruelty and repeated cruelty and the decree was filed on 7 July 1900. In 1900, Lewis was boarding in a house on St. Johns Street in Ithaca village, Gratiot Co., MI and was a night watchman at the mill. Thomas E. and Lillian A. (Douglas) Cunningham had become the guardian of their child who was going by the name Bertie. Lewis suffered a cerebral hemmorage and died on 30 Nov 1905 after a length illness that begin on 26 Dec 1904.
