Family:Whitney, Leicester Ferdinand (1847-1910)

Leicester Ferdinand⁸ Whitney ([[|David⁷]], David⁶, Benjamin⁵, Joseph⁴, Joseph³, Jonathan², John¹), son of [[|David⁷ and Lydia (Parker) Whitney]], was born Sep 1847, Tunbridge, VT, and died 25 Feb 1910, Tunbridge, VT.

He married, 25 Jan 1877, Tunbridge, VT, Hattie E. Swan daughter of William & Harriet⁷ (Whitney) Swan.^[1] She was born 1855, Tunbridge, VT, and died 1920. They were second cousins. See Family:Whitney, Thomas (1780-1862).

Notes

Lester/Leicester F. Whitney, b. ca. 1848, VT, would seem to be a grandson, not a son, of David. Possibly his mother was David's daughter Susan. Alternatively, he could be an adopted child. His marriage record does call him son of David, as does his death certificate. The fact that his household was adjacent to that of Albert Whitney suggests that he may have been Albert's brother, and son of George and Arethusa (Gates) Whitney. This latter theory is shown at the Family Tree at FamilySearch.org. If so, George, who had an earlier son Leicester Whitney, who died as an infant, would have named a second son born two years later after him.
