Daniel⁵ Whitney (Daniel⁴, Jonathan³, Jonathan², John¹), son of Daniel⁴ and Thankful (Allen) Whitney, was born 4 Sep 1746, Shrewsbury, MA,^[1] and died Jun 1817, aged 68 years.^[2]

He "of Shrewsbury" married, 26 Sep 1771, Oxford, MA, Katy Stone "of the County Gore", daughter of Uriah and Mary (Blunt) Stone. She was born 15 Nov 1752, Oxford, MA.

Pierce says the following:^[3]

He was in the Revolutionary army, in the company commanded by Capt. ANDREWS, of Shrewsbury.

vi.	John Stone Whitney, b. 20 Jun 1783, Marlborough, MA.
vii.	William Whitney, b. 27 Aug 1785, Marlborough, MA.
