Israel5 Whitney (Daniel4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Daniel4 and Dorothy (Tainter) Whitney, was born 6 Aug 1741, Watertown, MA,[1] baptized 16 Aug 1741, Watertown, MA, and died 11 Sep 1774, Watertown, MA, in his 34th year.[2].
He "of Watertown" married, 10 Dec 1765, Cambridge, MA, Jemima Robbins,[3] daughter of Eliphalet and Jemima (Norcross) Robbins. She was born 30 Mar 1747, Cambridge, MA, and died Jul 1814, Dedham, MA. Marriage intentions were published 3 Aug 1776, Dedham, MA, for her "of Watertown" and her second husband, Abner Ellis "of Dedham".[4] She married thirdly, 11 Oct or 12 Dec 1783, Dedham, MA, Nathaniel Kingsbury.
On 20 Dec 1774, Watertown, MA, administration on the estate of Israel Whitney, late of Watertown, was granted to Jemima Whitney, widow, of Watertown, with Jeremiah Norcross, husbandman, of Watertown, and Eliphalet Robbins, gentleman, of Cambridge, sureties. On 30 Jan 1775, Watertown, MA, his inventory was taken by Phineas Stearns, David Barnard, and Josiah Norcross, totaling £226-5s-2d. On 8 Dec 1791, Watertown, MA, an administration account was recorded, approved by Mary Whitney, David Fairbanks, Jemima Fairbanks, and Samuel Fisk, guardian. On 28 Sep 1792, Watertown, MA, the inventory of his real estate was taken by Stephen Dana, Abner Sanderson, Phinehas Stearns, approved by Simon Whitney, Daniel Whitney, and Nathaniel Kingsbury, guardian of heirs of Israel Whitney.
Pierce says the following:[5]
- In 1791 in the Suffolk County Court [Nathaniel] Kingsbury was appointed guardian of Israel and Dorothy.

Mary Whitney, b. 22 Feb 1769; bapt. 25 Feb 1770, Watertown, MA; on 21 Aug 1776, Watertown, MA, Eliphalet Robins, gentleman, of Cambridge, was appointed guardian of Jemima and Mary, minors under 14, children of Israel Whitney, late of Watertown, deceased, and posted bond with Deacon Samuel Fisk of Watertown as surety. On 24 Dec 1790, "Molly" Whitney, single person, was warned out of Dedham.[7] She was unmarried 16 Mar 1799. She "of Dedham" m. 25 Jun 1805, Dedham, MA, Eli Smith "of Walpole" "of Medfield", as his second wife.[8] iv. Dorothy Whitney, b. 10 Nov 1771; bapt. 17 Nov 1771, Watertown, MA; on 21 Aug 1776, Watertown, MA, Deacon Samuel Fisk of Watertown was appointed guardian of Dorothy and Israel Whitney, minors under 14, children of Israel Whitney, decd., of Watertown, and posted bond with Capt. Eliphalet Robins of Cambridge, surety. On 24 Dec 1790, "Dolly" Whitney, single person, was warned out of Dedham.[9] She was unmarried 15 Mar 1791. v. Israel Whitney, b. 7 Mar 1774; bapt. 13 Mar 1774, Watertown, MA; m. 1 Jan 1799, Needham, MA, Mary Fuller; on 21 Aug 1776, Watertown, MA, Deacon Samuel Fisk of Watertown was appointed guardian of Dorothy and Israel Whitney, minors under 14, children of Israel Whitney, decd., of Watertown, and posted bond with Capt. Eliphalet Robins of Cambridge, surety. She was unmarried 15 Mar 1791.
