Your Lineage

I think I have extended your lineage a few more generations.

Charles F. Whitney was listed on the 1900 census in Lowell, MA with wife Edna, sons Arthur F., and others. Charles was born Sep 1868, Maine, parents b. Maine.

In 1880, I find Phineas Whitney listed in Chelsea, MA, age 36, b. Maine, with several children including Charles, age 11, m. Maine. He was the only Phineas Whitney born near 1844 in Maine or Massachusetts who was b. Maine.

In 1870, Phineas and Maria E. Whitney were listed in Portland, Maine with son Charles F., age 1. Phineas was a broom maker.

This Phineas appears to be the one later listed in Boston in 1900.

In 1860, I find Phineas, age 16, living with his mother Anna Whitney, apparently widowed, in Portland, Maine.

In 1850, I find Phineas Whitney (Sr.), age 46, b. Maine, a cooper, living with wife Hannah, age 43, and their 8 children, including Phineas W., age 6. They lived in Portland, Maine

In 1840, this Phineas was residing in Portland Maine with his wife and 4 young daughters (matches children's ages from 1850).

This is where I have now lost track of them, and it's past my bedtime.

Enjoy!

Your Lineage (2)

I have found that your ancestor Phineas Whitney, b. ca. 1804, Maine, is the same as Phineas7, son of Levi6 and Happy (Higgins) Whitney (Abel5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), born 27 Jul 1803, Standish, Maine. He married Hannah B. Lowell, 20 Oct 1831, Bangor, Maine. That establishes his lineage, and yours, back to the immigrant, John1 Whitney of Watertown, Massachusetts. I have added that to your lineage page, together with links to family group records.

Glad to meet you, cousin!

Adding a new page

Sbrina:

To add a new page, select "Add a new page" from the box on the left column of any page on the website. From there, select "Create a Family Group Page (form method)". Just enter your information into the form and when you're done, press the button at the bottom. The page will still need a little fine tuning after that, but will be fairly well formatted. If you want to edit after that, simply select the edit tab at the top of that page. Robert or I will see that you've added it and link it in to other pages within a day or so. You're free to attempt to do that yourself, of course, by following the examples on other pages.

Good luck and just remember - you can't do anything that we can't fix, so be bold and go for it.

Thanks!
