George Washington7 Whitney (Shubael6, Asa5, Joshua4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of Shubael6 and Sarah (Mitchell) Whitney; born Groton, Connecticut, 23 Mar 1817; married in Norwalk, Ohio, 28 Dec 1847, Althea F. Beebe; born Mount Vernon, Ohio, 14 Apr 1822.

George W. Whitney, born at Groton, Connecticut, 23 Mar 1817; settled in Cleveland about 1845; married Althea F. Beebe, of Norwalk, Ohio, 28 Dec 1847; engaged in mercantile pursuits until about 1880, when compelled to retire through failing health; was a public spirited citizen and active in good work. Died at Chicago, Aug. 16, 1886; resided Cleveland, Ohio, and Chicago, Illinois.

Children of George Washington7 and Althea F. (Beebe) Whitney:

i. John B.8 Whitney, born 31 Oct 1848; married Rebecca Colvin.
ii. Clara E. Whitney, born 1850; married Judge Alfred W. Lamson; resided Cleveland, Ohio.
iii. Helen A. Whitney, born -----; married Arthur E. Bingham; resided 4723 Woodlawn Ave., Chicago, Illinois.
iv. George W. Whitney, born 8 Oct 1866; unmarried; resided 4723 Woodlawn Ave. Came to Chicago in 1884, and is a stockholder and officer of the Marsh Bingham Lumber County.
