Family:Whitney, John Dore (1827-a1900)

John Dore⁶ Whitney (Archibald⁵, Henry⁴, Josiah³, John², Henry¹), son of Archibald⁵ and Nancy (Brower) Whitney, was born 25 May 1827, Derby, CT, and died after Oct 1874.

He married, 17 Oct 1866, Bridgeport, CT, Mary Frances Parrott, daughter of Frederick Wells and Lucelia Ann (Remer) Parrott. She was born 31 Jan 1833, Bridgeport, CT, and died after Oct 1874. She was a granddaughter of Abram and Hannah⁶ (Whitney) Remer, and a great-granddaughter of Josiah⁵ and Hannah (Riggs) Whitney, and thus his first cousin once removed.

Phoenix says the following:

"John Dore Whitney, b. at Derby, Conn., 25 May 1827; a manufacturer of hoop-skirts; married, 17 Oct. 1866, at Bridgeport, Conn., Mary Frances Parrott, dau. of Frederick Wells and Lucelia Ann (Remer) Parrott, of Bridgeport, where she was born, 31 Jan. 1833. They settled at Bridgeport, and were living there in Oct. 1874."

i.	Henry Parrott7 Whitney, b. 26 Feb 1868, Bridgeport, CT; d. 26 Mar 1868, Bridgeport, CT; bur. Bridgeport, CT.
ii.	Frank Archibald Whitney, b. 18 Jul 1869, Bridgeport, CT.
