Benjamin P.⁸ Whitney (William⁷, Samuel⁶, Abner⁵, John⁴, Isaiah³, Thomas², John¹), son of William⁷ and Olive (Parlin) Whitney, was born 3 Oct 1834, Corinth, ME.

He married 9 Apr 1865, Sarah M. McMurray. She was born 1848.

He is a blacksmith; resided Los Alamos, CA.

i.	Stillman E.9 Whitney, b. 3 Mar 1856; resided Rockport, Mendocino County, CA.
ii.	Emma J. Whitney, b. 13 Jul 1866; m. 1 Jun 1889, San Luis Obispo, Jacob A. Biren; resided Los Alamos. He was b. 3 Mar 1862. Ch.: Fred N., b. 2 Mar 1890, Los Alamos; Cecelia A., b. 14 May 1892, Los Alamos.
iii.	John S. Whitney, b. 13 Jan 1870; resided Suisun, Solano County, CA.
iv.	Fred E. Whitney, b. 24 Oct 1872, CA; resided Los Alamos. He received an excellent common school education, fitted for college, and by teaching part of the time worked his way through; resided Los Alamos.
