Josiah Hayden led a company of minute men at the Lexington Alarm. He was appointed major
under Col. John Bailey, 1776, and was at the battle of Harlem Heights, where he commanded the
regiment.

Wilson Chamberlain turned out at various alarms during the Revolution and his son Joseph
enlisted in 1780, for three years, at the age of eighteen.
Jesse Whitney, 1776, served in Rhode Island and 1777 was lieutenant under Capt. Peter
Penniman, Col. Job Cushing's regiment. He died in 1815, aged eighty-one.

Jonathan Jones commanded a company and was promoted for service in the Canadian campaign.
He rose to the rank of colonel, was a member of the General Assembly, but died near the close of
the war from exposure in the field.

Thaddeus Bradley, 1777, enlisted as a soldier in Col. Samuel Elmore's regiment and served in the
Commissary Department. He was a pensioner when he died at Burton, Ohio, in 1840, at the age
of eighty-four. He belonged to a family of patriots and his older brother, Stephen Rowe Bradley,
rose to eminence in Vermont.
Childs Taylor, 1775, enlisted from Hartland for one year and served in the Canadian campaign.
He then re nlisted and was in the battles of Trenton and Germantown. In the same company was
his brother-in-law, Hinsdale Bates.
