Joshua Whitney (1750-1821) received a pension for service as private and ensign in the Connecticut troops. He was born in Canaan, Conn.; died in Bridport, Vt.

2. John Merrick Whitney (1792-1867) m. 1815 Clarissa Montgomery (1798-1871); James Franklin McCaleb (1812-78) m. 1830 Sophia Moore (1812-45).
3. James Rex Whitney m. 1780 Mary Allen (d. 1814); John McCaleb (1777-1823) m. 1805 Maria Collins.
4. William McCaleb m. 1769 Anne Mackey (1748-1821).
James Rex Whitney (1760-1822) served as private in the New York militia and as sailor under John Paul Jones. He took part in that memorable battle of the ôBon Homme Richardö and the ôSerapis.ö He was born in Middletown, Conn.; died in Washington, Miss.
