discharged, 1783, at New-burg-on-the-Hudson, when the army disbanded. He was placed on the
pension roll of Oxford Co., Maine, 1818, for two years' actual service of private in the New
Hampshire troops. He was born, 1765, in Andover, Mass.

Archibald Steele, (1741-1822), was lieutenant of Thompson's rifle regiment at Quebec, where he
was wounded and taken prisoner. When exchanged he was appointed deputy quartermaster
general, where he served until the close of the war. He was born in Lancaster and died in
Philadelphia while superintendent of military stores.

He served at the Bennington Alarm in Capt. William Cooley's company. He died in Granville,
Mass.
