Joshua Whitney, (1745-1808), entered the army as sergeant; was promoted lieutenant, 1780, and
served to the close of the war. He was an original member of the Cincinnati of Connecticut. He
was born in Canaan, Conn., removed to Pittsfield, Mass., where he died.

Massachusetts Line. He was born, in 1763, in New Marlboro, Mass.

Isaac Tanner, (1730-1822), served as ensign in the second company of Rhode Island militia, 1776.
He died in Herkimer County, N. Y.
Francis Tanner, (1762-1847), was a private in the militia and received a pension for his service.
He was born in Kingston, R. I.; died in Cook Co., Ill.
George Getman, (1723-89), served as a private in the New York militia under Col. Jacob Klock.
He was born in Stone Arabia, N. Y., where he died.
[p.310] John Getman, (1754-1806), served as a private and corporal in Col. Jacob Klock's
company. He was born in Tryon; died in Montgomery County.
Enos Clapsattle, (1727-77), was at the battle of Oriskany, where he lost his life. He was born in
Germany.
William Clapsattle, (1762-1830), served as a private in Capt. Frederick Getman's company. He
was born in German Flats, where he died.
Frederick Getman, (1736-91), commanded a company in Col. Peter Bellinger's regiment of New
York militia. He was born in Stone Arabia; died in Manheim, N. Y.
John Strayer, (1744-1800), served as a private in Capt. Christopher Fox's company, Tryon
County militia. He died in Montgomery Co.
