Anthony Thornton, Jr. (1748-1828) commanded a company at the beginning of the war; rose to
the rank of colonel of Minute Men and served at the siege of Yorktown. He was born in Fairfield
Co., Va.; died in Ormsby Lodge, Ky.

Anthony Thornton (1726-82) was a member of the Committee of Safety of Caroline Co., Va., and
was chairman 1776. He was also Justice of the Peace.

York.

Elias Palmer (1756-1838) served as ensign in the volunteer company from Stillwater. He was
placed on the pension roll of Saratoga Co. 1831 for service as private and ensign, New York
militia.
Daniel Shields (1766-1835) enlisted as a drummer 1780 under Col. Goose Van Schaick and was
at Yorktown under Lafayette and received a badge of merit signed by Washington. He died at
Albany.
Daniel Hale was aide-de-camp at Ticonderoga 1779. He died 1821 in Albany, New York.
