William Cooley (1736-1825) commanded a company in Col. John Moseley's regiment of Mass. militia at Ticonderoga, and was wounded at White Plains. He was born in Springfield; died in Granville, Mass.

Isaac Chapman (1747-76) was a private in Capt. William Cooley's company from Granville. He died at Ticonderoga.

Caleb Goodrich (1731-77) was a minute man at the Lexington Alarm, sergeant at Ticonderoga, and lieutenant in Col. John Brown's Berkshire County regiment, and was at the surrender of Burgoyne.

Joshua Whitney (1745-1808) entered the army as sergeant, was promoted lieutenant, and served to the close of the war. He was an original member of the Cincinnati. He was born in Canaan, Conn.; removed to Pittsfield, Mass., where he died.

Noah Phelps (1740-1809), who had served under Amherst when Ticonderoga was taken from the French 1759, visited the fort in disguise 1775. His report to Ethan Allen led to its successful surprise and capture. He served in the New York and Jersey campaigns and commanded a regiment at the close of the war. He was born and died in Simsbury.
