commanded a regiment at the battles of Long Island, Harlem Heights, White Plains, and the
exposure in these campaigns caused his death. He was born in Plainfield, Conn.

Mordecai McKinney served as private in the New Jersey militia. He was born in New Jersey,
1750; died in Paxton, Pa.
William Chambers (1744-1809) was commissioned captain of Cumberland County Associators,
and served as colonel at Trenton, Princeton, and in the defense of the frontier.
