Aug. 21, 1745; m. Mary Ann ----- [NOTE]. 548. ii. WILLIAM, b. Aug. 8, 1747. In 1815 he was residing near Albany, N.Y. 549. iii. MARGARET [NOTE], b. Feb. 22, 1750. 550. iv. JEDEDIAH, b. Nov. 13, 1751. He was a goldsmith and killed in battle Aug, 25, 1778. In a small volume of the Children's Bible, pub. London, 1759, the property of Edith M. DELORNE, of Sumter, S, C., is the following: "Peggy WHITNEY, her Bible, given her by her grandfather, Caleb WHITNEY and grandmother; Margaret WHITNEY, July 29, 1783. He was born in Canaan and at his father's death was given property. Moving to New Haven in 1756 he resided there until 1762, and perhaps afterward. His ear mark for domestic animals was recorded there Oct. 25, 1757. He died in Vermont. David WHITNEY of Canaan, Conn., who was brother of Solomon WHITNEY was proprietor of Poultney, VT., and both were proprietors clerks of meetings held in 1761.
