Child of Hiram and Rebecca (Whitney) Smith. 1114

3680 I. Priscilla Smith, married Solomon Gray. They dwelt in Connecticut, and visited her uncle, Levi Whitney, at Philipstown, N. Y., about 1835, or 1840--since which, nothing has been heard of them.

3681 I. Marana Whitney, b. at Greenfield, Conn., 26 Nov. 1810; married by Rev. John F. Clark, Presbyte rian, at her father's house in Philipstown, N. V., 15 Ap. 1847, to John Moshier, a waggon-maker, who was born at Philipstown, 24 Aug. 1812, son of James and Mary (Ferguson) Moshier. She died in Highlands, Philipstown, 14 Nov. 1849, without children; and was buried in the Highlands Cemetery, near her father and mother. He lived at Glenham, N. Y., in 1873. She was his second wife, and since her death he has married a third time.
3682 II. Eleanor Sherwood Whitney, b. at Highlands, Philipstown, N. Y., 3 Jan. 1812; married by Rev. Joel Croft, Methodist, at her mother's house, 22 Jan. 1857, to Hamilton Jaycox,1 a tailor, born in Patterson, N. Y., 18 March 1805, son of Gershom and Mary (Fisher) Jaycox. They lived on her father's homestead, in "Upper Highlands," without children, in 1874.
3683 III. Samuel Whitney, b. in Upper Highlands, Philipstown, N. Y., 5 Jan. 1815; a farmer; married at Fishkill, N. Y., 5 Oct. 1836, to Jane Scholefield, who was born in Philipstown (in the Purdy neighborhood), 9 July 1817, dau. of James and Hannah (Shaw) Scholefield. He settled in Philipstown; lived, from 1842 to 1844, in Fishkill; returned to Philipstown; and moved from there, 5 May 1852, to Pike, N. Y., where she died 1 July 1856. He married (2d), at Pike, 5 Ap. 1858, Clarissa Crandall, widow of ----- Carpenter, who died there in May 1863. He married (3d), at Gainesville, N. Y., 15 Feb. 1863, Phebe Nichols, widow of Hastings; and settled in Gainesville, where he died, 12 Ap. 1866. He was buried, as were his first two wives, in the cemetery at Pike. 10008

3684 I. Lyman Banks Whitney, b. in Greenfield, Conn.; bap. by Rev.
  1 He was married (1st), by Rev. William Lull, at Fishkill, N. Y., 15 Aug. 1844, to Betsey Scholefield, born 5 Ap. 1814, dau. of James and Hannah (Shaw) Scholefield. She died at Cold Spring, N. Y. They had one son, Eugene Jaycox, who was born at Cold Spring, 24 July 1845, and died 4 May 1851.
