III. Thomas Hart Benton Whitney, b. at Birmingham, Conn., 18 Sept. 1843; a commercial traveller; was living at Birmingham in Nov. 1872, unmarried. He served, for three months, in Co. D, 2d Reg., Conn. Vol. Infantry.

IV. Henry Archibald Whitney, b. at Birmingham, Conn., 25 Dec. 1846; a clerk; married at Port Chester, N. Y., Mary Ella Bassett, dau. of Nathan and Sarah E. Bassett, of Derby, Conn. She was born at Oxford, Conn., 13 Oct. 1846. They dwelt at Bridgeport, Conn., for one year; and then moved to New Britain, Conn., where they were living in Dec. 1872. He served, for three years, in the U.S. Navy, during the war of 1861; and afterward enlisted in Co. K, 36th Reg., U.S. Infantry.

I. Ann Eliza Phelps, b. at Birmingham, Conn., 10 Sept. 1837; married at Ottawa, Ill., 8 Sept. 1858, William Mount Lewis, born 11 Jan. 1835, son of William Everton and Adeline (Donaldson) Lewis, of New York City. They settled at New Albany, Ind., and were living there in Oct. 1874.
