Walter Heywood, son of Benjamin and Mary Whitney, married 9 Sept., 1829, Nancy Foster, dau. of Richard, Fitchburg, Mass. Mrs. Sarah Whitney married Banjamin Foster, son of Ebenezer, Salem, Mass. She was from Littleton, Mass. Hannah Fairbanks, born 6 Feb., 1818, married 16 Nov., 1840 Orrin Whitney, son of William and Olive Parlin Whitney, born Anson, Maine, 18 August 1815. Please read The New England Historical and Genealogical Register of April, 1983 for an error in the records of Pierce s Whitney Genealogies. Page 143 of the April issue deals with the Nathaniels, numbering 5,4,3, and John numbering 2 and 1. Nathaniel born in Westborough, Mass., 28 July, 1728, married at Grafton, Mass., 2 Feb., 1754, Abigail Marstop. At that time he lived at Spencer, Mass. The correct marriage date for Nathaniel seems to be 26 Dec., 1753 and the correct lady seems to be Abigail Joslin. Confusion over this ancestry seems to result from the fact that Nathaniel who married Abigail Joslin at Westborough 26 Dec., 1753 had children born in the near town of Grafton, beginning with Nathaniel who was born 14 Oct., 1754, and Nathan Whitney who married at Grafton 20 Feb., 1754 Abigail Marstass, having children born in Spencer, beginning with John who was born in Spencer 7 Sept., 1754. Of course one has to be careful about the Spencer records as our own Revolutionary ancestor, Elisha, was from the Joshua Whitney of this town.
