4024 IV. Jesse Clawson Whitney, b. at East Woods, now Woodbury, L. I., 28 Ap. 1822; married there, by Rev. Daniel Devinne, Methodist, 22 Sept. 1847, to Emeline Van Sise, dau. of Jeremiah and Maria Van Sise, of Woodbury. 10682
4025 V. Israel Rodgers Whitney, b. at East Woods, now Woodbury, L. I., 7 Ap. 1824; married by Rev. Mr. Youngs, Methodist, at Huntington, L. I., to Cynthia Jane Schenck, dau. of Cornelius Schenck, of Syosset, L. I. He died at Woodbury, 27 Feb. 1848; and was buried in Fountain Hill Cemetery. 10684
4026 VI. Phebe Ann Whitney, b. at East Woods, now Woodbury, L. I., 6 Nov. 1834; married there, by Rev. Mr. Leek, Methodist, 12 Dec. 1854, to Amos Cheshire, a farmer, of Syosset, Oyster Bay, L. I. She died, 5 Jan. 1865, at Syosset, and was there buried. 10685

Charlotte Shepard, b. at Bethel, Conn., 27 Aug. 1807; married there, 17 Jan. 1827, Daniel Barnum, an inventor, son of Daniel and Joanna (Dibble) Barnum, of Danbury, Conn., where he was born 22 June 1799. They dwelt in Bethel for thirteen years; in Bridgeport, Conn., two years; in New York City, eight years; in Philadelphia, Penn., two years; in New York again, seven years; in Jersey City, N. J., three years; in New York again, seven years; in Brooklyn, N. Y., four years; and were living at 255 Halsey Street, Brooklyn, in Oct 1875. 10686

William Coley Shepard, b. at Bethel, Conn., 24 Nov. 1809; a hatter; married there, 23 Nov. 1831, Emily Trowbridge, dau. of Eliakim Davis and Amelia (Taylor) Trowbridge,1 of Bethel, where she was born 8 Feb. 1811. They settled at Bethel, and were living there in Aug. 1871. He has held several town-offices, and represented the town of Danbury in the Legislature of Conn., in 1844. 10693
