Dunstable was formed in 1673. Nottingham, NH, was formed from it in 1733. Land was ceded to Litchfield, NH, in 1735. Parts were gained from Nottingham, NH, and Groton in 1747. Land was given to Groton in 1752, and other land gained from Groton in 1753. Parts were gained from Nottingham, NH, in 1754, and Chelmsford in 1755. Tyngsborough was formed from it in 1789, and and additional part was given to Tyngsborough in 1792. Parts of Groton were gained in 1793 and 1796. Some territory was given to Tyngsborough in 1798. Additional lands were gotten from Groton in 1803, and their boundary was adjusted in 1820.
