Abigail Chadwick (Sarah Whitney⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), daughter of Charles and Sarah⁴ (Whitney) Chadwick. was born circa 1707,^[1] calculated from age at baptism; baptized 21 Jan 1727/8, Weston, MA, aged 21 years.

She married, 17 May 1732, Watertown, MA, Capt. Henry Spring, son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Traine) Spring. He was born 2 Feb 1710, Watertown, MA, and died 11 Feb 1762, Weston, MA.

Capt. Henry Spring was a farmer in Weston and a Selectman in 1758. He and his cousins Josiah, Jedediah, and Converse Spring served in a Regiment commanded by Sir William Pepperill in the Indian War of 1757 and was captain of a company from Watertown in the French and Indian War of 1758 in the Spring and again in 1759. Capt. Spring and his daughter Rebecca drowned while attempting to cross a pond on the ice in the winter of 1779-80.

Capt. Spring commanded the Watertown Train Band in Colonel William William's Regiment in 1758 when Massachusetts provided 7,000 men for the Lake George Expedition. These troops joined with the British regulars under General Abercrombie. Capt. Spring carried a beautifully carved powder horn, presented by his troops, throughout this campaign; later, it was carried by his son, Amos, in the American Revolution and by his grandson, Capt. Amos Spring II, in the War of 1812. It is now in the possession of his great, great grandson, Henry K. Holton, Indianapolis, Ind.

iv.	Elizabeth Spring, b. 7 Apr 1739; bapt. 15 Apr 1739, Watertown, MA; d. 30 May 1771, Acton, MA; m. 23 Sep 1756, Weston, MA, Josiah Mansfield, son of Theophilus and Sybil (White) Mansfield.
v.	Mary Spring, b. 22 Mar 1741; bapt. 29 Mar 1741, Watertown, MA; d. 26 Sep 1786; m. 4 Sep 1760, Weston, MA, Abijah Burbank "of Sutton".
