He married Jane -----. She married, second, 22 Nov 1574, Saint Alkmund, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, John Grinsell.

iv.	Katherine Whitney, named in her brother's will as the wife of John Cartwright, of Drayton-in-Hales, Shropshire. They had children Jeffrey, John, Jane, and Mary.

He was probably a grandson of Thomas Whitney of Coole Pilate, who m. Anne Brooke, given that his brother Geoffrey named a son "Brooke Whitney."

Was he perhaps the same man as or related to Edward Whitney (b1523-a1544) of Audlem?
