Family:Whitney, Aaron (s1770-b1810)
Aaron Whitney, parentage unknown, was born say 1770, location unknown, and died before 1810, Rome, Oneida Co., NY.
He married say 1790, Sarah Fitch, of unknown parentage. She was born about 1770, unknown location, and probably died after 1830, probably in Rome, Oneida, NY. She married secondly, Elisha Walsworth, born 1764 and died 1828, Rome, NY.
Little is known about this family as there are few records. It is documented[1] that the Sarah (Fitch) Whitney, widow of Aaron Whitney married Elisha Walsworth of Rome, NY, after the death of his first wife Effie (Southworth) Walsworth in 1805, Rome, NY. Elisha and Sarah (Fitch) Walsworth had a son Daniel in 1811, but he died in the same year. Additional clues were obtained from a family tree in Ancestry.com. Although the tree has no records or parents associated with Aaron, the tree did have credible knowledge of one of his sons, James. From James down, the information is much more complete. I have contacted to owner of the tree to try to determine their source of knowledge, but did not receive a response.
Children of Aaron and Sarah (Fitch) Whitney (may be incomplete and is based on speculation from the 1800 census and as noted in individual family pages):
i. (poss) Orrey Whitney, b. ca. 1793, unknown location, m. Catherine -----. ii. (daughter) Whitney, b. 1790-1800, unknown location. iii. (son) Whitney, b. 1790-1800, unknown location. iv. (prob) James Whitney, b. ca. 1797, unknown location, m. Laura Avery.[2]
