Abijah6 Whitney (Joseph5, John4, Joseph3, John2, John1), son of Joseph5 and Mary (Child) Whitney, was born about 1760, Weston, MA, baptized 6 Jan 1760, Weston, MA,[1] and died 8 Mar 1829, Weston, MA, aged 69 years.[2]

Marriage intentions were published 18 May 1783, Weston, MA, for him "Mr." "of Weston" and "Miss" Lydia Stearns "of Waltham".[3] He "of Weston" married firstly, 12 Jun 1783, Weston, MA, Lydia Stearns "of Waltham",[4] daughter of Daniel and Hannah (Fuller) Stearns. She was born 1759, and died 5 May 1795, Weston, MA, in her 35th year.[5]

Marriage intentions were published 7 Aug 1796, Weston, MA, for him "Mr." and "Miss" Anna Whittemore "both of Weston".[6] He married secondly, 20 Sep 1796, Weston, MA, Anna Whittemore "both of Weston",[7] daughter of Israel and Abigail (Brown) Whittemore. She was born 24 Agu 1766, Weston, MA, and "Mrs." died 5 Apr 1819, Weston, MA, aged 52 years.[8]

Marriage intentions were published 10 Jan 1820, Weston, MA, for him and "Mrs." Rebecca Cutler.[9] He married thirdly, -- --- 1820, Weston, MA, Rebecca (Fiske) Cutler,[10] daughter of David and Rebecca (Garfield) Fiske. She was born 26 Oct 1766, Lincoln, MA, and died 11 Apr 1843, Weston, MA, aged 76 years.[11] She had married firstly, 18 Mar 1788, Lincoln, MA, Caleb Cutler.

He and Lydia both owned the covenant, 16 May 1784, Weston, MA, and were admitted as church members 16 Mar 1788, Weston, MA.[12]

His children Lydia, Isaac, Sukey, George, and Charles, were scholars in 1808 at the North [East] School, Weston, MA.[13]

He administered the estate of his father Joseph.

Admin. 14 Apr 1829 to Rebecca Whitney of Weston, wid. of Abijah Whitney of Weston. Sureties, Elijah Fisher of Lincoln & Abijah Whitney of Waltham.

Inv. 31 Mar 1829, by Ebenezer Hobbs, Nathan Warren, and John Cutting.[14]

He was in the Revolutionary war, in the company from Weston; and later from Lincoln, in the regiment commanded by Colonel Drake. He resided Waltham and Weston, MA.

iv. Elisha Whitney, b. 6 Nov 1789, Weston, MA; bapt. 8 Nov 1789, Weston, MA;[20] d. 24 Jun 1837, Weston, MA. aged 48 years.[21] "Elisha Whitney and 2 children, from Watertown in 1816, supported by Weston."[22] Who his wife and children were is now not known.

Abijah6 and Rebecca (Fiske)(Cutler) Whitney had no known children.

Notes

His daughter Sukey could be the "Susan Whitney of Weston" whose marriage intentions with Henry Parmenter were published 11 Feb 1826, Wayland, MA, and also Weston, MA.[40] He subsequently m. 24 Apr 1829, Wayland, MA, Anna Hemmenway.
