Albertus B. F.8 Whitney (Billa7, Christopher6, William5, William4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of Billa7 and Clarinda (French) Whitney, was born 11 Jul 1820, and died after 1880, Buffalo, NY.
He married, before 1855, Annie E. -----. She was born about 1837, NY, and died after 1880. Apparently there was a divorce after 1870, because they both appear in the 1880 census, he listed as "married", and she remarried to Jonathan Pratt.
He had children living in California. He was interested in the manufacture of dental goods.
In 1855 he was listed as a member of a Masonic Lodge, Erie Lodge, No. 161, Buffalo, Erie Co., NY.[1]
In 1862, "A. B. F. Whitney" of Port Byron, NY, paid IRS excise taxes on a "necromancer".[2] On 25 Jun 1863, "Albertus B. F. Whitney" of Port Byron, NY, paid IRS excise taxes on a "mechanical necromancer".[3] In Jan 1865, "A. B. F. Whitney" of Williamston, MI, paid IRS excise taxes on "showman receipts".[4] In Feb 1865, "A. B. F. Whitney" of Lansing, MI, paid IRS excise taxes on "showman receipts".[5] In Mar 1865, "A. B. F. Whitney" of MI paid IRS excise taxes on "showman receipts".[6] In 1866, "A. B. F. Whitney" of Greencastle, IN, paid IRS excise taxes on "public exhibition".[7]
"SHERIFF SALE--STATE OF NEW YORK--Cayuga County--[ ]--By virtue of an execution issued out of the County Court of the county of Cayuga and State of New York, against the goods and chattels, lands and tenements of Albertus B. F. Whitney, I have seized all the right and title which the said Albertus B. F. Whitney had on the 9th day of April, 1874, of, in , and to the following described premises, which I shall expose for sale as the law directs, at the Court House, in the city of Auburn, Cayuga County, N.Y., on the 6th day March, 1873, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, to wit: All that tract or parcel of land situate in the village of Port Byron, county of Cayuga and State of New York, being part of lot number seventy-three (73), Mentz, and being part of village lot number thirteen (13), and bounded as follows: ... containing seven rods, be the same more or less, according to a description contained in the deed from Luther B. Phinney and others to Jabez S. Ashley, and dated February 19th, 1844. -- Dated Auburn, January 3rd, 1875. A. J. SANDERS, Sheriff, by G. W. HOLDEN, Deputy Sheriff. Jan. 3rd, '72."[8]
