Family:Whitney, Alvah (1808-1871)
Alvah8 Whitney (Zimri7, John6, Zachariah5, John4, Joseph3, John2, John1), son of Zimri7 and Susanna (Sanderson) Whitney, was born 27 Jun 1808[1], and died 29 Sep 1870, Cambridge, MA, aged 62 years 3 months, drowned.[2]
He married, 26 Apr 1838, Boston, MA, Caroline Geyer,[3] daughter of Martin and Eunice (-----) Geyer. She was born 26 Dec 1811,[4] Friendship, ME, and died 8 Jul 1889, Cambridge, MA, aged 77 years 6 months, of cancer.[5]
He was a soap maker. He resided Boston and Cambridge, MA.

Cambridge, MA. Children: a. Carrie May Melville, b. 24 Oct 1866; d. 29 Aug 1873. b. Lizzie Searles Melville, b. 5 Sep 1871; m. 15 Jun 1892, Walter Eugene Bowen; lives at 3 Creighton St., No. Cambridge, MA. c. Isabel Calef Melville, b. 28 Mar 1877; unmarried and resided 3 Creighton St., No. Cambridge, MA.
ii. Emma Frances Whitney, b. 7 Mar 1850, Cambridge, MA;[7] resided with Eunice; m. 27 Nov 1902, Cambridge, MA [also recorded at Nahant, MA], Charles Edwin Gove, b. ca. 1839, Lynn, MA, son of Worthen and Emeline (Spencer) Gove.[8]
