Asa5 Whitney (Joshua4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of Joshua4 and Anna (?Blodgett?) Whitney, was born 26 Feb 1742/3, Preston, CT,[1], baptized 7 Oct 1744, Preston, CT (son of "widow Whitney"), and died 10 Aug 1803, Pittsfield, MA.[2]

Asa married firstly, 5 Aug 1762, Preston, CT, Sarah Barnes, "both of Preston".[3] She died in 1775.

Asa married secondly, 23 Oct 1776, Salisbury, CT, Hepzibah/ Hepzibath Watrous, "both of Salisbury", daughter of Joseph and Abigail (Baldwin) Watrous, by Rev. Jonathan Lee.[4] She was born 1752, Killingworth, CT, and died 15 Nov 1815 in Pittsfield, MA.[5]

Pierce says the following:[6]

He was born in Preston, Conn., in 1743; resided there and afterwards at Salisbury, where he married his second wife. About 1786 he moved to Pittsfield, Mass., where he afterwards lived and died. He sold land at Mt. Washington, Mass., May 24, 1792.

v. Shubael Whitney, b. 15 Aug 1772;[11] d. 1852; "of Preston" m. 25 Jun 1795, Preston, CT, Mrs. Sally Mitchell "of Groton", daughter of George and Content (Allen) Mitchell.
