Asa Clark7 Whitney (Elisha6, Joshua5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Elisha6 and Esther (Clark) Whitney, was born 5 May 1785, Stockbridge, MA, and died 10 Dec 1824, Kingston, PA.

He married firstly, ca. 1805, Luzerne Co., PA, Elizabeth Dorrance, daughter of Col. Benjamin and Nancy Ann (Buckingham) Dorrance, of Wilkes-Barre.

He married secondly, ca. 1814, Luzerne Co., PA, Susan Inman, of Plymouth, PA, daughter of Edward and Jerusha (Dilley) Inman. She was born about 1794, Hanover Twp., Luzerne Co., PA, and died after 1860.

"Dr. Asa Clark, who was a physician of great ability, was the first resident physician of Kingston. In 1810 he was commissioned a justice of the peace for Burlington and Wysox, and in 1820 was elected register and recorder of Luzerne county. He married first a daughter of Col. Benj. Dorrance and had children, Benjamin, Mary and Nancy; married 2nd Susan Inman and had daughters, Elizabeth and Jerusha."[1]
"Asa Clark, married for his first wife, a daughter of Col. Benjamin Dorrance, of Wilkes-Barre. He was a physician of great ability, and practiced throughout the Wyoming valley and vicinity. By his first wife he had three children, (3) Benjamin, a soldier in the War of the Rebellion, in an Illinois regiment; (3) Mary and (3) Nancy, all residing in Byron, Ogle Co., Ill. Dr. Whitney's second wife was Susan Inman, of Plymouth, Pa., by whom he had two daughters, (3) Elizabeth and (3) Jerusha. (2) Asa C. Whitney died Dec. 10, 1824."[2]

i. Benjamin F.8 Whitney, b. say 1808, Luzerne Co., PA; a Civil War soldier in an Illinois regiment; resided Byron, Ogle Co., IL; enlisted as a Private on 14 August 1862, in Company B, 92nd Infantry Regiment Illinois; discharged from Company B, 92nd Infantry Regiment Illinois on 1 Apr 1863.
ii. Mary Whitney, b. say 1811, Luzerne Co., PA; resided Ogle Co., IL.
iii. Nancy Whitney, b. say 1814, Luzerne Co., PA; resided Ogle Co., IL.
iv. Charlott Whitney, b. ca. Jul 1817; d. 30 Oct 1825, Wysox, PA, aged 8 years 3 months. Buried Wysox Cemetery, Wysox, PA.

v. Elizabeth8 Whitney, b. say 1822, Luzerne Co., PA; d. probably before 1860; m. bef. 1848, Angelo Jackson.
