Asahel⁷ Whitney, (John⁶, John⁵, Joshua⁴, Joshua³, Benjamin², John¹) son of John and Polly (Gibbs) Whitney, was born 30 Aug 1809, Broome Co., NY, and died after 1880.

He married 2 Oct 1838, Ashtabula Co., OH, Harriet N. Hatch, dau. of Luther and Polly (Morrill) Hatch. She was born about 1817, VT, and died after 1900, Santa Barbara, CA.

v.	Charles Whitney, b. ca. 1856, CA; d. after 1880, then unmarried.
