Asahel⁷ Whitney (Joshua⁶, Joshua⁵, Nathaniel⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of Joshua⁶ and Esther (Prouty) Whitney, was born about 1784, Langdon, NH, and died 5 Oct 1869, Johnstown, NY, aged 86 years,^[1] of bladder cancer. He was buried in Johnstown Cemetery, Johnstown, NY.

He married firstly, 19 May 1825, Saint John Episcopal Church, Johnstown, NY, Laura Webb.^[2] She apparently died before 1840.

He married secondly, between 1850 and 1855, Sophronia (Webb) Blake, daughter of Jeremiah and Miriam (-----) Webb. She was born about 1804, Canajoharie, NY, and died 27 Jun 1870, Johnstown, NY, aged 66 years.^[3] She was buried in Johnstown Cemetery, Johnstown, NY. She had married firstly, Solomon Blake.
