Asaph K.7 Whitney (Asaph6, Jonathan5, Benjamin4, Benjamin3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Asaph6 and Bethiah (Hopkins) Whitney, was born 27 Jan 1822, and died 2 Feb 1865, Savannah, GA, in the Civil War. He was buried in Laurel Grove North Cemetery, Lot 1544, Savannah, GA.
He married Laurana Talmage, daughter of John Talmage and Olive Stanton. She was born 17 Jun 1820, Scipio, NY, and died 4 Sep 1882, Rives, Michigan. [1]
He served as a Private 1st Class in Co. A, 1st Michigan Engineers and Mechanics, in the civil war; resided Hillsdale, MI. He enlisted 28 Dec 1863; was promoted to Full Corporal on 1 Nov 1864, and died 2 Feb 1865, Savannah, GA.
His widow Laurana Whitney applied for a pension 24 Apr 1865.
