Family:Whitney, Benajah (c1793-1835)
Benajah6 Whitney (Benjamin5, John4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Benjamin5 and Ann Mercy (Harris) Whitney, was born about 1793, Otsego Co., NY, and died 22 Jan 1835, Parish, NY, aged 42 years. He was buried in Colosse Cemetery, Parish, NY.
He perhaps married firstly, Jane Carter.
He married perhaps secondly, say 1822, Rosina David, daughter of Jean Pierre David. His wife Rosina/Rosine/Rosean/Rossie/Rosana was born about Jan 1799, Switzerland, and died 20 May 1875, La Crescent, MN.
Phoenix says the following:
- Benajah Whitney, b. in Otsego, N.Y. ; settled at Parish, N.Y., and there died, being accidentally killed at the raising of a log-house; married Jane Carter, or, according to another report, Rosina David, and had a family, some of whom were at Parish about 1855. He was a soldier in the war of 1812.

John J. Whitney, b. ca. 1829, NY; possibly the same as James, above. v. Francis Samuel Whitney, b. ca. 1831, NY; m. Lucina A. Smith. vi. Mary P. Whitney, b. ca. 1834, Oswego Co., NY. vii. Catharine Whitney, b. ca. 1836, Oswego Co., NY; probably the same as Cornelia Whitney, b. 1836, d. 1 Jul 1865, who m. say 1856, Lester Pickens. Children: a. Jane A. Pickens, b. 1858, d. 1942. b. Dewitt Wallace Pickens, b. 28 May 1861, d. 1934.
