Charles Whitney (Charles), son of Charles and Polly (Heywood) Whitney, was born 1802, Barretston Plantation, ME, and died 30 Apr 1882, Hope, ME.

He married, 1828, Hope, ME, Ann Staples. She was born about 22 Sep 1808, ME, and died 3 Jul 1885, Hope, ME. "Mrs Charles Whitney d 3 July 1885 at South Hope Aged 78 yrs 4 months, published in Rockland Papers 7 July 1885".

On 11 Feb 1842, Charles Whitney, signed a petition as a resident of Hope, ME, against the setting off of the West part as a new town of Appleton, ME.[1]

Children of Charles and Ann (Staples) Whitney, if any, unknown, although the census of 1840 suggests a daughter born 1825-1830.

The oldest female seems to be his widowed mother living with him.
