Charles Edward8 Whitney (James Alexander7, James6, John5, Abraham4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of James Alexander7 and Mary Melicent (Strong) Whitney, was born 22 Jun 1851, Albany, NY, was baptized 26 Mar 1852, First Presbyterian Church, Albany, NY,[1] and died 18 Jun 1893, East Lyme, CT, aged 42 years, of tuberculosis. He was buried in Albany Rural Cemetery, Albany, NY.[2]

He married, 10 Oct 1872, Albany, NY, Isabella Luke, daughter of Henry and Theresa (Jimmerson) Luke. She was born 4 June 1851, Albany, NY, and died 3 Oct 1923, Fairhaven, MA. aged 72 years 4 months, of angina pectoris. She was buried in Albany Rural Cemetery, Albany, NY.[3]

They were living at 260 Hudson Avenue, Albany, in Jun 1877.

ii. William Strong Whitney, b. ca. 1876, Albany, NY; d. 12 Dec 1882, Albany, NY, aged 6 years 2 months 4 days, of spinal disease.[4]
iii. Carl Edward Whitney, b. ca. 1879, Albany, NY; d. 10 Sep 1907, Woodburne, NY, aged 27 years, of consumption.[5]
