Dr. Charles H.8 Whitney (Smyrna7, Samuel6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Smyrna7 and Ruth7 (Whitney) Whitney, was born 10 Nov 1824, Westminster, MA,[1] and died 24 Feb 1915, Cambridge, MA, aged 90 years 3 months 14 days, of lobar pneumonia.[2] He was buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA.
Marriage intentions were published 25 Sep 1848, Fitchburg, MA, for him "of Westminster" and Abby A. Tolman.[3] Marriage intentions were published 26 Sep 1848, Westminster, MA, for him and Abby A. Tolman "of Fitchburg".[4] He married firstly, 19 Oct 1848, Fitchburg, MA, Abbie Ann Tolman,[5] daughter of Jacob N. and Abigail (Hale) Tolman. She was born 26 Nov 1822, Fitchburg, MA, and died 22 Apr 1870, Cambridge, MA, aged 47 of a brain tumor,[6] aged 47 years 4 months 27 days, of cancer in cerebellum.[7]
He married secondly, 18 Oct 1871, Brooklyn, NY, Isabel H. Hayes, daughter of Joseph and Nancy (Sanderson) Hayes. She was born 22 Jan 1837, Dublin, NH, and died 14 May 1901, Boston, MA, aged 64 years 3 months 22 days, of arasmes and operation for removal of ovarian cyst,[8] or 13 May 1901, Cambridge, MA, aged 64 years 3 months 21 days, of uraemia and operation for removal of ovarian cyst.[9]
They resided 16 Warland St., Cambridge, MA, and South Framingham, MA.

McGowan, b. ca. 1840, Montreal, QC, son of William and Catherine (-----) McGowan;[16] resided 9 Coral St., Worcester, MA. iv. Hattie Elizabeth Whitney, b. 2 Aug 1857, Fitchburg, MA;[17] m. 6 Jul 1882, Shirley, MA, Henry E. Clifford, b. ca. 2854, Paris, ME, son of Jona. K. and H. M. Clifford;[18] resided Grand Island, NE. He was b. 9 Sep 1853; attorney at law. Children: a. Leon E. Clifford, b. 2 Apr 1883. b. Nora B. Clifford, b. 23 Feb 1890.
